JNI panic: JNI received a null class - Anyone have a cure for this?

This is a multipart message in MIME format. In another context (invoking the Lotus Notes Java API in MS IE 5.5) I get
the same error at the top of my error stack. MS IE finds this too much to
deal with and disappears.
Anyone have a clue how to deal with this?
