I don't think so. The problems seem to be caused by the idiots at AIX who wrote
X11R6, which does not behave like X11R5, and causes our processes to hang on
some calls. We never get an answer back. Until they figure out what they have
done wrong and fix it, we will have to pre-req X11R5. Since X11R5 is not
always installed on some machines you must make sure it is, or the libpath
statements in netview will have no effect and the hangs will occur.

I have seen the problem with the GUI not going down on a machine with the
following specifications:-

     -AIX 4.3.2
     -Framework 3.6.1
     -Netview 5.1.1

The problem seems especially bad from a PC Xwindows software client ( eg.
Exceed ) and from
a CDE environment. Are there any other observed symptoms of the problem.
In particular I
am curious about things like the following:-

     -GUI hanging
     -Pull Down menus not working
-GUIs failing to shutdown then needing to be killed using a "kill -9"
on the "ovw" pocess.

Could they, alternaively, be caused by machine restarts without carefully
taking down the
relevant Tivoli and Netview daemons first?
