Once you remove the bad bitmaps you need to do the following with all the
GUI's down.
 1. ovw_fields > /tmp/file1 :ensure that all field files have been read
and compiled.
 2. ovw_config > /tmp/file2 :ensure that all bitmap files have been read
and compiled.
 3. ovw_verify > /tmp/file3 :double check all field and registration
files.

Then restart the GUI's, it you still get the message you need to check the
/tmp/file2 to determine what bitmap is still not compiling.

I have already tried this and I still run out of colors occasionally. Any
thoughts on the background error problem?
