Backups are fast, superfast. Restores can take up to 3 hours for a machine that takes 3 mins to backup.
It just fills the vCentre up with events, and to me, this just does not feel like noise.

I never had this under 7 or 7.1 - Restores and backups were super quick through vCentre, never like this.

Im sure going through ESX will be quick, but like I said, I never expected this type of throughput.

I put the key in just in case, but just seems to ignore it. It does feel like a VMware issue, but I was kind of hoping I could just restore to original location, 3 clicks and restores are done.

To also put it into perspective, a file recovery is quicker than this method !

Simon,

"The ["Clear lazy zero" ] message occurs when performing a restore of a VM to a virtual center console.  It is just a message letting you know that the lazy zero bit is being cleared.  It is not an error, and can be ignored".

It's just noise, so what's the problem?  Besides, restoring directly to the ESX host is tons faster than restoring through the vCenter server...

I am calling out to anyone using VMware API under 7.5.0.3

Please look at this technote...

I have raised a Ticket with Symantec, because I am quite unhappy that under 7.0 and 7.1 I was fully able to initiate restores under Virtual Centre fine, without Clear Lazy Zero's but now it seems I have to perform restores direct to the ESX Server.

What is the point of the vCentre option being there if it cannot be used?
I have a RegKey entry called No eagerly scrub but it does nothing.

Do others see this problem?
