We are running a NetBackup 7.1 media server on RHEL5. The tape paths all show as missing in tpautoconf –disc_report. If I try to use the GUI to configure
storage on the media server from the master (which is RHEL6) it says there aren’t any removable media.
However, if I do a cat /proc/scsi/scsi I see the 3 paths to the library (Quantum i6000) blades and the 12 HP Ultrium (10 Ultrium 5 and 2 Ultirum 3).
These are presented via Qlogic cards (2 of the paths from library to 1 card and the other path to the other card).
What can I do short of reboot to make the drives visible to NetBackup? (This is Production so getting downtime window is difficult.)
I called Datalink support and they had me use tpconfig to delete the drives but that didn’t do anything to help. At that point they abandoned me saying it
is an OS problem.
There is old vmoprcmd output saved on the master before the issue occured that shows the drives for this media server were /dev/nst0, /dev/nst1, etc… and those
device files still exist but I’m assuming somehow they no longer refer to the devices.
Sample output of the tpauatoconf –disc_report before deletion (essentially shows the same for all the drives):
