I’ve tried the rename, even with the document, in the
exact order…and still had issues. I believe Symantec is hoping to
have a supported option in a 7.x release

Anyone out there have success with the process? The environment is
Netbackup 5.1 MP4 on solaris 9 and 10 OS.
It's doable but very definitely not for the faint of heart
and it changes every release. What you do
in 5.MP4 will definitely not work in 6.x.
A long-time Symantec employee was talking at the last
customer forum and said that it takes 30 steps, IN EXACTLY THE RIGHT ORDER, to
rename a master server. Get one step wrong or out of order and you get to
restore and start over. For this reason, Symantec is currently refusing
to document the process because can (and have in the past) shot themselves in
the feet (and then reloaded :-)). A supported procedure to rename a
master has been requested
We did it back in 3.4, changing platforms at the same
time, We didn't get in 1 run either - we found out what was wrong and
then started again another day, completing it successfully.
