I'm a little fuzzy on Solaris, but it doesn't allow root login via ftp by
default. There are some modifications that need to be made to allow this,
some files that come to mind are /etc/default/login, or /etc/ftpusers.
Wait, I just did a google search and the files you are looking for are in
/etc/ftpd if you are running Solaris 9 or 10.

Hi Guys,
I have an issue . MIght be im doing something very silly
-> Im installing a netbackup client from master serevr
Master - Lets say - A
solaris , netbackup 6.5.4
Client - Let say - B
solaris , netbackup 6.5.4
-> I have done host entry on master , media and client and it seems fine
Tried pushing netbackup from master A to client B
-> bash-2.03$ sudo ./install_client_files ftp B root
B..
Client B -- Solaris hardware running Solaris10
Installing NetBackup software on B as user root
Password:
Login failed.
Ftp failed because of an invalid user name or password.
B install failed
When I login to client using same root and psswd . it works fine and I can
login
Can somebody help ?
