Why?

If this was a one-time thing, I wouldn't bother redefinining anything.
I'd have it learn the LTO2 media as identical to my normal LTO3 media
(and therefore think it compatible with my LTO3 drives, which it is).

Unless you have multiple drive types in use, I don't see any gain to
defining multiple types.
