I've been in the process of migrating a media server for the past week
or so. I've used the guide in Appendix A of the NBU Media Manager
System Administrator's Guide for Windows without any significant
problem. However, I do have two recalcitrant tapes that won't reassign
to the new media server. Here's what's happening:
1) Look for tapes assigned to the old server:
D:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>bpmedialist.exe -mlist
-l -h media1
000024 *NULL* 1 20 1141664428 1142876367 1205774540 0 113749351 102 102
10 4 0 0
1024 0 1777569 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
000072 *NULL* 1 20 1142060157 1142879077 1205736395 0 45324144 46 46 10
4 0 0 10
24 0 708298 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Good. Two tapes to move.
2) Try the move:
D:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin\admincmd>bpmedia -movedb -ev
000024 -oldserver media1 -newserver media2
invalid error number
Same happens for tape 000072. All other tapes relocated without
incident. And I've checked to make sure these tapes weren't frozen -
they're active.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Jason
