Did it get rid of the images as well? My guess is NO!

Here's the problem you ran into. When the mediaDB was overwritten during
the upgrade, you lost one of the three critical DBs.

Without too much detail, here are the DBs:

Image DB: Contiains information about what was backed up on each client
and where to get it for a restore. Stored on Master server in
netbackup/db/images.

MediaDB: Contains information about tapes once they are written (# images,
expiration dates, etc). This is kept on each media server in
netbackup/db/media/mediaDB.

VolDB: Contains information on physical charecteristics of tapes (#
mounts, assignement, location in/out of a library, etc).

In your case, you probably ended up in a situation where there were images
on media (imageDB) and the tapes were assigned (volDB).

To remedy this situation can be quite time consuming and should not be
taken lightly.

You'll first want to check out if there are images on the tapes to do
that, run bpimmedia.

Next, determine if they are valid. If they are, you'll want to consider
importing the tapes so as to re-create the mediaDB entries. If they
aren't valid, you can remove the remains. To do that will require
bpexpdate -justimage -m $MID -d 0 followed by the vmquery -deassignbyid to
remove the assignment and make the tape available for re-use.

You might consider contacting PS for some assistance as they have some
tools to help identify problems and clean them up.
