Just use:
vmchange (Change volume's media type)
       vmchange [-h <volume_database_host>]
           -new_mt <media_type> -m <media_id>
=20
I have just verified it works on both assigned and unassigned volumes =
without any issues.

The media manager thinks that a particular media type is hcart when it =
needs to think that it's hcart2.=20

I could expire the tape and then re-import the data but that doesn't =
sound like fun and it would take time.=20

Is there a way of changing the media type of a tape via the command =
line?=20

The server is nbu 5.0MP1 running on solaris=20

Thanks,=20
