CFM- Page 174 in the 4.5 Sys admin guide has details on how to calculate
the catalog size. It has nothing to do with the amount of data, simply
the number of files times the retention period times the average size of
the full file path and file information. Page 175 had some good
examples.

Catalog size calculation is a little more entailed than that. It is
dependent on the amount you backup, the number of files and the
retention level. If you save stuff infinitely then you need to adjust
your numbers up same thing if you are backing up millions of tiny files.
I backup about 20TB a day and retain about a petabyte in total stored
data, but only have a 40gb catalog.

Hi,

I am trying to correctly size catalog space and was wondering what all
of
you are seeing with your catalog sizes. Generally it would be 2-4% of
total
data being backed up = 1Tb data = 20-40G catalog...is this what you are
seeing?

Thanks

Jennifer
