The images backed up by the former policy names are still accessible by
those names even if the policy has been deleted. Deleting the policy has no
affect on the ability to restore other than you'll have to remember the old
name if you need to do a restore by policy.

In my experience, since most restores are done by client name and time
range, there's not much need to remember the old names.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Policy and Schedule name change question

Our environment is HP-UX 11i, NetBackup FP 4.5. We are currently running
separate NetBackups in 2 datacenters and would like to standardize our
naming conventions across both datacenters. Eventually we may use GDM but
don't know at this time. What I would like to do is copy my existing
policies and schedules to new standardized named policies and schedules then
delete my existing policies and schedules. By doing this will I have
problems with restores from the policies that I have deleted? What is the
connection to the database and the policy names if any?

Thanks in advance
