You could probably solve your problem by just moving the media server to a
different box but leave the v880 as the master. Master servers alone don't
really need a lot of juice, but media servers tend to suck up all the
resources. This link will show you step by step on how to transfer the
images:

I've done this numerous times without a problem. The load on the master
server after the migration is always much, much lower afterwards. This way
you won't have to worry about a master hostname change and the catalog.

I have a SUN V880 server that has both the master and media netbackup server
on the same machine. Unfortunately it has other apps on it as well and the
machines resources are being tapped out.

I need to move netbackup off of this machine and on to a new machine. All
of the clients will stay the same, just need to move the master/media
server to a new machine. Can I get some suggestions on the best
practices/methods for doing this.

Thank you in advance.
