[Veritas-bu] Overwriting Backups
2003-10-20 11:56:06
The only way to start at the beginning of the tape is to start with an empty
tape.
I'd suggest doing your oracle backup, then suspending the tape (bpmedia
-suspend). The tape images will expire normally and be reusable but will
not be appended to, forcing NB to choose a new tape for the backup.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Overwriting Backups
Hi,
I am using Veritas Netbackup 4.5 to make daily backups of my oracle
database. Currently the retention period is set to 1day. Does this mean
that when the next backup occurs it starts from the start of the tape and
overwrites the existing backup? If not can anyone suggest the
method/commands which need to be issued such that the backup always starts
from the beginning of the tape. Thanks.
Kind Regards
Keith
