Bob,

Thanks for that explanation!  Do I understand you correctly that 
bpduplicate, by itself, does not put jobs in the job monitor?
( Rather, that BPVault, as a wrapper around bpduplicate, puts jobs in the 
job monitor to show what it is doing... )

If that is the case, I'll have to stick with prowling through bperror logs 
( this is via a remote console so I can't use a local
logfile... ) to pick up the duplication activity.
