Before 34_1 patch NetBackup couldn't recognize a cleaning tape 
in a tape drive and library cleaning it and down'ed the tape drive. 

For Tape Alert working you need to have at least NB_34_1 and 
FW 106 on tape drives. 

TapeAlert feature was developed back in 98 or even early, 
but was known for a quite a bit time. 
And took Veritas at least 3 years to make it working. 
It's still semiworking. NetBackup drops cleaning request after 
30 minutes. So if you are getting soft errors but still able to run
backup, the tape drive won't be cleaned. 
  
L700 air flow design is below my expectations about this great 
product. Negative pressure and non-filtered air makes it a big 
vacuum cleaner and effective kills my tapes in enormous amount. 
Dirty leaders, dusty tape drives and no maintenance required 
DLT tape drives make my life thriling.  
Suggestion to clean my computer rooms on regular basis is OK, 
but old ATL library I got has positive pressure and 
filtering air it pulls inside, and tape drives are more cleaner 
being in the same environment three times longer than inside my L700s.
