Also be aware of the fact that to restore AD reliably you must be at SP2 on
your W2K boxes and be at least NBU 3.4.1, otherwise you can get into a world
of ntds problems. We actually don't use OTM (I persoanlly hate the thing)
and have no problems what so ever. Our environment is a W2K master/media
server nbu 3.4.1(jumbo patch) with 341_1 and 341_2 patches.

Dave,

Are you using either ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES or a file list along with the
SYSTEM_STATE:\ directive in the files to backup in the class? AFAIK, this is
the only way to successfully backup the System State of a Win2K machine.
This is how our Win2k classes are setup and I have successfully restored AD
so I know it works.

The orig. message had screen captures, and was over the size limit, so here
it is again.....

I am trying to back up an active directory file "ntds.dit". It is the data
store for Active Directory, here's what MS has to say about it:

Data store (the database file Ntds.dit). This file is manipulated only by
the extensible storage engine database engine.

Here's the issue, Netbackup is not backing up the file. When it gets to
that file, it kicks out an "OTM Not Enabled" log entry, and moves on. When
I check the server the file lives on, it says OTM5 is running. What is
going on??
