when netbackup does an incremental backup it uses the mtime value to
determine which files should be backed up. so if a file is renamed or
moved it will be overlooked when an incremental backup runs.

this is similar to the bug in TIR that is "fixed" in 3.2 by selecting
"move detection" on all class that use TIR.

rather than fixing the default behavior, veritas gives you the option to
fix it with the following bp.conf settings that must be added to every
client (unix only i think):

USE_CTIME_FOR_INCREMENTALS 
DO_NOT_RESET_FILE_ACCESS_TIME

there is no way to add these values to the default bp.conf that is pushed
out to new clients, you need to remember to add them and/or do regular
audits of your client bp.conf files. also, you cannot use these settings
on a system running storage migrator.

just thought i'd point this out in case some of you overlooked this in
the sysadmin guide (page 246)...
