[Networker] Managing indexes & disk space?
2012-09-05 07:02:20
Paul,
the index size by itself is not the issue. However, there are automatic and
manual methods to shrink it.
NW will check for expired save sets at least once a day automatically. This is
usually enough.
Shrinking the browse policy would be the recommended and best action ... if you
are allowed to do that ;-)
Another alternative is to move off the indexes to a new disk/directory. As they
are organized by client name ...
- ensure that no backups are run for this client
- copy the whole path to a new location
- set the appropriate attribute (index path) for the client resource
- verify that NW can see the new CFI (by running nsrls, nsrinfo, recover)
- run a full index backup of this client or wait until the next full will be
run
- delete the old CFI directory
You should find a more detailled description in the docs. Good luck.
