The persistent naming is done by editing the registry setting and the
drivers are the MS drivers.
So, on one DD880 We have the old naming standard i.e \\.\Tapexx, and on the
other DD880 we have long devicenames like \\.\Tape12345678

How are you doing your persistent naming? As I said in my earlier posting,
persistent naming with the IBM drivers does not work, at least with some
versions (e.g. 6.2.0.9)
