Using NW 751. I have a file type device (not advanced, just regular),
and some data gets added every day. I have staging set up to stage any
save sets older than 14 days. Staging is enabled and checks every 5
hours. But I notice one day that there's some data out there on disk
that's older than 14 days. This seemed odd, but new data continued to be
added without problems.
So, I manually ran an nsrstage process for one of the ssids, and it
worked as far as cloning the saveset to the destination clone pool, but
then it issued an error message when it tried to remove the data from
the disk:
Cannot find an available nsrmmd service for operation on device
'device_name'.
I then unmounted the device, but when I tried to remount it, I received
the same message. Tried several times. Finally, shut down NW, restarted,
and now it mounts fine, and again, new data writes to it just fine. From
NMC, I had the staging process go and check the file system, and it
staged all the older save sets, so it looks like it's working now, but
there is still that one older saveset that's still on disk (shows up as
something like: 123456789.0), but NW no longer lists it in the media
database as being on that file type device/volume, only the clone
volume, so it won't stage it - I guess, because it doesn't know it's there?
Since NW doesn't know it's there, can I simply unmount the volume,
manually delete the file, and then remount?
I guess I could scan the device, but I don't really need the saveset
there since I already have a copy on the clone.
Thanks.
