A few times.

A few times. :-) 

I've applied it to Win2003 clients (both 32 and 64bit). Most times, it 
allowed VSS to work. other times, I would still occasionally get VSS 
errors. Sometimes rebooting cleared those errors; sometimes doing 
absolutely nothing would clear it (the next night's backup would be fine 
and use VSS).

I've never had to set any configurations for VSS.
