So I have a site that uses Networker Business Edition to back up itself,
and a couple other servers on that particular site. And my main site here
uses Networker Network Edition. So they are completely separate instances
of Networker. (it was originally set up this way, rather than as just a
storage node at a remote site, because of connectivity problems - I'm told
that if the link between sites went down, then the remote site wouldn't
back up).
Anyway, about a month ago we changed tape formats from SDLT to LTO-3. Now
I have a need to restore from one of the old SDLT tapes. Due to a shortage
of spare SDLT drives (and field personnel), I decided to import the files
into my Networker server here, and then just do a recover of the files I
need from here, onto the server at the remote site. I've recovered to
remote Business Edition servers before, but never had to import their
tapes before.
So I get the set of 4 tapes, and do a "scanner -m" on each tape. Then I do
a "mminfo", listing fragflags, so that I can see the sequence of tapes
that my saveset spans. Then I do a "scanner -i", on those tapes in
sequence. This is the recommended method of importing tapes, AFAIK. Then
I create a new client, using the clientid I get from mminfo. And then I
try and do a GUI recover from that client, redirecting to another client.
And Networker tells me that it can't recover, as it can't find the index.
The saveset is named "F:\USERS", and I see it here:

If I look on the Business Edition server, it thinks that the clientid of
the server where F:\USERS is located is:
fc159b3b-00000004-478b7799-478b7798-00010000-0a401005 (that's why I
created the client "~admin_nt8rc.wrk.ads.pha.phila.gov-1" with that
clientid).
So I'm lost and confused as to why I can't do a recover, and why it thinks
there is no index. I see the index right there, in the last 3 lines
above. I see the saveset, spanning across 3 of the 4 tapes, right there.
What I'm not seeing, is why I can't recover the specific files within the
"F:\USERS" saveset that I need ...
Advice? Clues? Free beer? :-)
