Hello Stan,
Your suspicion is correct: Snapshot Policy is not supported on Linux
NetWorker Server, therefore NMM and PowerSnap are not, either. Support
in this Server is planned but is not imminent.
(NMM is NetWorker Module for Microsoft Applications -- the new name for
the old VSS Client. Current NMM version is 2.0.)
Thanks,
_Scott

Subject: [Networker] Setting up for VSS backups
Greetings everyone;
I have a Power Edition NetWorker 7.4 SP2 server running on a Red Hat
Linux box. I want to try out VSS backups on a new Microsoft 2008 box
that a colleague set up for testing purposes. I installed the most
recent VSS module on the 2008 box. The trouble is, when I look through
the NMC on my 7.4.2 server, I cannot find any options for setting up
snapshots like I can on my NetWorker 7.4 SP 1 server on Solaris 10. I
wonder if VSS isn't supported on Linux NetWorker servers or if I have
to enable some option in order to reveal the snap shot configuration
controls. Unfortunately, my attempts at downloading the latest
compatibility guide from PowerLink result in network timeouts.
If anyone knows about this, please let me know.
Thanks.
