In regard to: [Networker] Solaris to Linux Migration, Markus Wells said (at...:

The issue is that when we tried to migrate networker from Solaris to Linux,
it failed due to being unable to acccess the built-in volume/label/whatever
database. the person who actually did it believes it had something to do
with the database going from a UFS to an ext3 filesystem and Legat just not
liking that.

When you ask a question like this, it's important to provide the version
of NetWorker involved -- in your case there are potentially two versions
involved, though if you're going to try this, I highly recommend you don't
try upgrade to a newer version at the same time that you're doing your
platform migration.

In your case, since you're switching platforms, it's also important to
provide details about both the source and destination platforms, including
info about whether you're using the 32 bit or 64 bit versions of the
packages on either source or destination.

What you're trying to accomplish can be done, and what type of filesystem
the indexes are sitting on has little to do with the problem at hand.
Take a look at the mailing list archives, try searching for

         Linux Networker Server

in the subject, there's a thread from October 2002 that I posted in that
gives the 10,000 overview of what you need to do.
