I have read and re-read the firewall settings in the Legato Admin guide
but I am just not getting it. We have 10 servers behind the firewall
that need to be backed up and I am just not understanding the
documentation. 

 

So am I looking at having multiple ports open for the Legato server and
only a limited few open for the clients?? Or is it the opposite way
multiple ports for clients and limited on Legato server??

 

Legato Server: 

9 + 2 x [number of devices] + [number of jukeboxes] + 3 [if the Console
server is running on the same host, 0 if not]

 

Legato Clients:

*          nsrexecd - 2 (one each for portmapper and remote execution)

*          Client Configuration Wizard - 1 per module client
configuration wizard running

*          Local Host resources - 1 for administering local host
resources through the Administration window.

*          NDMP - 1 transient port used when an NDMP filer is backed up
