I think you are on the right track looking at block sizing. Here are some
ideas of where to look, but if it ends up you need to have different block
sizes on different devices, I don't know how to set that up, but perhaps
somebody else here does.
Load one of your backup tapes into the SDLT320 drives
nsrjb -ln -S [slot number] -f /dev/rmt/[device name]
Use scanner to give you the block size it sees on the tape
scanner -v /dev/rmt/[device name]
Unload the tape
nsrjb -u -S [slot number] -f /dev/rmt/[device name]
Now look in nwadmin - Media - Devices - your SDLT320 drive - view details

look for Volume block size. See if this is different than what is
reported from scanner - if that is the case, we'll have to figure out how
to change it - but not change the block size for your other tape drives.
