In regard to: [Networker] Legato 7.1.3 on AIX 5.3 - unload retry on jukebox...:

Since moving our Networker servers to AIX 5.3 , running 7.1.3 we are
experiencing the following errors

repeated , but intermittent , errors showing an unload retry - then
sleeping , then unload retry again....

We got this a lot under 7.1.x with our older STK library. We tried
increasing the sleep times for several of the jukebox operations (in the
GUI, see "Media->Jukeboxes" and then "View->Details" to see the hidden
options for several of the delay/sleep settings, then do "Help->On Window"
for more info on what the settings mean). We doubled and even tripled
some of the sleep settings (in particular eject and unload), but it didn't
seem to fix the problem. We would still have the unload retry repeat
20 times (which I believe is also a configurable setting, though I don't
recall where it's set), and then succeed.

We've since moved to 7.2.x and have a newer STK library, and I don't
believe we've seen that problem even once. Not sure which change it
was that fixed this, but I'm suspicious it was more software than
hardware. We had our old (STK 9710) library under 6.1.x too, and we
didn't have any problems with unloads there, so it seems likely it was
mainly a problem in 7.1.x.
