Consider using Archiving in stead of long term retention backups.
Keeping savesets for 100 years keep entries in client file
indexes when using non-archive type pools (depending of your
browse and retention policy).

Reduce your nsr-index disk space by migrating your SSID
(using nsrstage) from backup-based pool to archive pool
and use Annotation field for keeping track of data being
archived. (By the way, you will also "refresh" data on tape
and detect data you already lost).

I created a policy of 100 years which sets the retention period to 'no
date'.
Because it doesn't have an official expiry date assigned to it, it
doesn't expire.

The SAIT-1 standard claims that media has an archival lifetime of 30
years.
