In regard to: [Networker] Networker server off line, Browning, David said...:

I'm working on my server that has been down for 3 months, and Legato
won't start (service fails to start). No error message, just an event
in the event log that says service stopped.

If you're comfortable with truss or the equivalent for your platform
(e.g. strace for Linux) I've always found it to be a fantastic debugging
aid. You might try emulating what the start/stop script is doing by
hand, using strace to start the appropriate daemons. For at least `nsrd',
be sure you use "-f" to also strace the children it will fork. You'll
probably also want additional options (-o /some/log/file/name.txt).

I don't have it plugged in to the network, and I'm wondering if that is
the problem? Can you have a Networker server run without being plugged
into the network?

Being plugged in shouldn't matter. You should have the network started,
though.
