We do mostly fulls on the weekends and INCRs during the week. The
browse and retention is set to one month and the tape is sent offsite
for 35 days. Every 5th week the Full backup writes to a pool that goes
offsite for sixty five weeks (browse and retention set to 65 weeks).

It seems that when we do the INCRs after the 65 week fulls, the backups
of the indexes will get a 65 week expiration while the actually INCR
backup has a one month expiration(browse and retention. This is like
this until we do the next full.

Is this the correct behavior? It is only causing problems when the one
month offsite tapes return. All the images have gone recyclable except
the index backups.

Is it okay to go ahead and mark these tapes as recyclable?

Is there a better way to handle the indexes?

Thanks,

Jon
