[Networker] nsrmmd crashes - marks tape as full and making some files unrecoverable
2005-06-13 04:35:45
I noticed that sometimes a specific file can't be recovered. It says that
it can't read file x at record y. This seems to be related to nsrmmd
crashes that also makes the tape to be marked as full. It looks like this:
Jun 10 17:42:24 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) restarting nsrmmd #4 on britt.qbranch.se in 2 minute(s)
Jun 10 17:43:06 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) restart of nsrmmd #4 on britt.qbranch.se cancelled
Jun 10 17:43:30 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) SAIT-1 tape 008068S1 was being written before crash
Jun 10 17:43:36 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) read 2858 records, and EOF marks after file 392
Jun 10 17:43:57 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) restarting nsrmmd #8 on britt.qbranch.se now
Jun 10 17:43:57 britt root: [ID 702911 daemon.notice] NetWorker media:
(info) nsrmmd #8 on britt.qbranch.se started as requested
Then, when reading data on those volumes that have been reported as being
written before the nsrmmd crash can't sometimes be read completely. The
drives report the following:
NetWorker media: (warning) /dev/rmt/3cbn moving: fsf 430: drive status is
The end of data was reached
Could this be due to the bug in nsrmmd that the patch LGTpa69733 is
supposed to fix? I have just replaced the nsrmmd with the LGTpa69733 one
in order to see if this problem will keep occuring, But it would still be
interesting to get feedback if anyone else is seeing this, and if/how it
was fixed.
