As others have said already this sounds tape related.

However, to get you moving so you can try to process you could setup a file
device, label it into your favourite clone pool and clone your bootstrap and
indexes to that device.

Then dismount the file device, tar it up and ftp it to your Linux box.
Untar, create details in your Linux server, scan and try mmrecov again.
Hopefully this should work for you - I've used the process many times in the
past with good results!

Obviously you still need to get your tape reading issue sorted otherwise you
won't be able to recover anything once you get your indexes in place, but
this will at least prove the process and usually works out a *lot* quicker
than using tape!
