Hi
Thanks to Ernst for replying.
please check what you are backing up. If the majority is lots of
small files then this behavior can be "normal". I caused a backup
with a direct attached LTO drive to drop to below 600Kbyte/sec by
creating 125 directories with 1000 files of 440 bytes in each
directory. Larger files (Oracle DB) were backed up in the same
session running at +- 14 Mbyte/sec.
I tried to test this by creating a few GB of 100m files on vol0 - the
performance is the same. I had first tried with a much larger volume
(500 GB) and that was when the problem was first apparent - the backup
took 5 days! There
df -k /vol/vol1
Filesystem total used avail capacity Mounted on
/vol/vol1/ 595174120KB 516810468KB 25883532KB 87% /vol/vol1/
df -i /vol/vol1
Filesystem iused ifree %iused Mounted on
/vol/vol1/ 596084 20069684 3% /vol/vol1/
so average file size was 867K, which seems not too small to me.
