Hallo Kevin,

please check what you are backing up. If the majority is lots of small files
then this behavior can be "normal".
I caused a backup with a direct attached LTO drive to drop to below
600Kbyte/sec by creating 125 directories with 1000 files of 440 bytes in
each directory. Larger files (Oracle DB) were backed up in the same session
running at +- 14 Mbyte/sec.
