Hey all,

We have returned the Legato Laptop software. If you remember my previous
posts, the Legato rep kept insisting they weren't EOLing it. At that point we
had the software for about 25 days. He then went on to a Legato Seminar and
came back and said we were past the 30days and we couldn't return it.
Fortunately, our reseller went above his head and got Legato to let us return
it and get a full refund.

Connected still sells their version of it, I think it's called DataProtector.

Regards,
Phil M.

Well,

I can now confirm for that other member (sorry, forgot your name, and I
don't have the email handy) that Legato/EMC is indeed End of Lifing
Networker Laptop.

I got a letter from them yesterday stating the following.

The "End of Sale" period ends tomorrow January 21, 2004.

The "End of Life" period ends when your support contract ends or on
January 21, 2005. Which ever is sooner.

No replacement product or service was mentioned.

So, whether you look it as EOS or EOL, anyone using this product is
completely SOL in one year.

Thanks,
Paul C.
