Hi there,
after long ongoing communication problems between the networker
software and our STK L700 LTO drives, we just decided to change some
parts of our hardware.
The OS is still a RedHat 7.3, currently with a 2.4.22 kernel with
MPTLinux patch according to
http://support.megaraid.com/support/dlcenter1/txt1/mptlinux.txt and
the networker ist still 6.1.3
We are now using three LSILogic 21320 PCI-X cards on our PCI-X
capable board, since they have been recommended to us to work fine
with NetWorker. So the setting is now as follows:
ASUS DLSW -+- LSI 21320 --- LTO --- LTO --- LTO --- Term
|
`- LSI 21320 --- LTO --- LTO --- Term
|
`- LSI 21320 --- EasyRAID --- Term
|
`- Adaptec 29160 --- L700e --- Term
The LTO are IBM LTO Ultrium I drives, and the EasyRAID is an
external 12-disk IDE RAID behaving as one external SCSI disk.
This is formatted as 4 partitions, used as staging devices.
But now, since we switched from Adaptec to LSI cards, we see a
massive breakdown in LTO speed. Usually we had clients saving with
about 8000 KB/s speed, now the same clients only stream about a
tenth of it, 900 KB/s ...
We didn't change anything on the installation, and now i'm quite
curious where to search for the problem, so any hints appreciated.
With kind regards,
Frank Altpeter
