Just a long shot. I had similar problem, but under Solaris, when both
sgen (I used to use mtx to control the tape robot) and Legato lus
drivers were loaded. The jbconfig were failing until I unloaded the sgen
driver. So make sure the robot device is not being used by other
(system) drivers somehow.
