mmm,

Ok

This sounds similar to an experience I had except then I had a Windows NT
server. Strangely, it only happened when I was attempted a command line
cloning. Even if I attempoted to manually mount the tape before the clone would
want to read from the tape, I would get the same issue.

What I eventually did to save time, was to start the clone (in your case,
recover) and then when it gets into the loop, go to the device, click edit or
in the case of UNIX, select view details and find the voluem operation field,
and then select mount. Chances are the first time you do this, the system will
report that the volume mount operation is already in progress, but if you keep
trying, you will catch it when it is idle.

I subsequently upgraded to 6.1.3, but bear in mind, I only did that becuase I
knew that none of my clients would be affected by the issues that surrounded
6.1.3 when first released.

Subject: [Networker] Tape in Verify Label Loop

Hello Folks,

I have a Networker 6.1.1 Build 238 running on a Solaris 6 System with
DLT7000 Tape Drives.

Yesterday , i received two Tapes from a remote site and i was
sucessfully able to scan the media and the client indexes of the
client i wanted to restore.

However everytime i start the recovery, the system will start to Load
the required tape -->Verifies the label --> Moves Backward 2 Files -->
Waits for a few sceonds --> Again starts to verify the Tape Label

This loop of verify tape label goes on indefinetly , until i cancel the
recover.

Other Tapes for regular backups work fine.

I have also tried to disable "Match Barcode Label with volume" with no
benefit.

Any clues how to correct this, or any mechanism to restore files without
having the system to verify labels ?

Rgds,

Monit
