Chad,

The truth of the matter is a newer client is not officially supported. 
However, there is little danger in trying it out to see if it works.  If
it doesn't backup and recover then you go with the unsupported client.

Why are you still on NetWorker 5.1 on your server?  That release is
something like five years old.  If you are not on maintenance I'd
recommend getting yourself onto maintenance as you've got a release that
Legato no longer even supports.  What if you run into a situation where
your data cannot be recovered and you've got a release that you won't be
able to get assistance with.
