Vikas,
What OS is your server/environment? NT has a slightly more limited
implementation of nsradmin, and does not support on-the-fly manipulation
such as:
nsradmin -s server *otherscript*
Which you can do on the Unix's, it also cannot cope with some types of
piping of data from scripts to nsradmin. You can still use things like:
nsradmin -s server -i inputscript
But its not quite as flexible for massively complex scripts.
Adding clients is quite easy, you just stick your details for the new client
in a file in the correct format (see man pages), say newclient.txt, then use
nsradmin -s server -i newclient.txt. You can then expand that by writing a
script that generates file.txt and runs the command after asking question
about hostname etc to make the process more user-friendly.
If you want to be really clever you can add drives to a DDS configured
jukebox by doing an update of the NSR Jukebox resource and adding a NSR
Device resource in a sequence of nsradmin commands to save re-running large
jbconfig sequences, but you need to practice before you get to this level
;-)
Don't forget if you have a NT server, you can always do this remotely from a
Unix box with the -s switch to specify the server (as long as you are on the
administrators list), you then get a full scripting environment and the
option to wrap the whole lot up in a web page to really reduce management
overhead!
Have Fun
Paul.
