Hello Ana,

I was able to ping the ip and nmap with the port too from both machines to another. Telnet failed though for security reasons. But I believe it doesn't matter  anyway because ping and nmap tests were successful.

The passwords are double checked so this can't be the reason too.

The error messages I get are:
"Fatal error: Unable to authenticate with File daemon at "(client's IP):9102". Possible causes:
Passwords or names not the same or
Maximum Concurrent Jobs exceeded on the FD or
FD networking messed up (restart daemon)."

"vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64-dir JobId 4: Warning: Unexpected Client Job message: 2999 Authentication failed."

Could it be something with the Storage? By the way, when I run the backup job at the director, the job gets stuck running for at least 5' minutes. So I believe the IPs and ports are ok, otherwise it should have failed in a matter of seconds or a minute, right?

Hello Stravros,

If you run into erro with a "status client" command from bconsole, there are a few misconfigurations or issues that can lead into this situation.

One of them can be a network issue (firewalls, etc.). Have you checked if you are able to telnet between director and client? You should be able to telnet from director to client using port 9102 and from client to director using por 9101 (or another one if you are not using the default ports).

Another issue can be wrong passwords configured in bacula-dir.conf and bacula-fd.conf for the client machine.

Could you sent us the error messages that appears to you?

Best regards,
Ana

I am trying to set up a vagrant machine with the server components of bacula. And I want to use them in order to backup a client which is in a remote server.
Both the machine and the remote server are ubuntu.
So I followed this guide:
and it was working just fine.
Then I followed this guide:
but I couldn't get access to the client
By the way, ports 9101-9103 are forwarded in the Vagrantfile.
The thing is that I can not use the "server name" (i.e. "vagrant-ubuntu-trusty-64") for obvious reasons.
So instead I used the ip of the host computer of the vagrant machine but it does't work.
Any ideas/workarounds?
