I have figured out at least part of my problem: a flawed understanding of what Bacula is doing. I *had* thought, that if I did a bscan, Bacula would find a dump of the database and restore the database records for the time period of the backup. But it does not; it only restores records for those jobs it finds on the tape. In order to restore other records I will need to

bscan

the

appropriate media for the jobs that I'm missing.

That's what I'm doing now. I've already scanned a tape and now I'm able to list files for the job in question.
