I must have expressed myself unclearly. So, absolutely they wouldn't be on 
the same machine. The old SD on old the hw, the new DIR on the new hw. But 
can this combination work together?

Reason for this idea: I try to keep downtime at minimum (this is much more 
than just a backup server), and I would configure new director etc on the 
new system, and start using it (among other non-backup-related services). 
However, I want to keep old system still functional, and my tape hw is still 
attached to that old system.
