Hi Martin

Thank you for answering.

Just a question before executing the tape tests: could 'mt -f /dev/nst0 eod' 
erase the tape or mess with backup data on it?

Regarding backup end file: no, 290 is not the expected end of this backup. Tape 
goes all up until file 463.
