Yes, I am able to ping the bacula-fd client (pine) from the bacula-sd. See 
client info below.

Also, interesting enough when I issue  an 'estimate' command it returns...does 
this mean its connecting?

Can the fd initiate a connection to the sd machine by whatever address you have 
in your storage section of bacula-dir.conf? Is there a firewall on the sd?
