The mailslot issue is that the mailslot isn't exposed on the scsi interface.   You will need to use the web interface or the front panel to access the mailslot.

Anyway, I wrote this little script that can move tapes around by using the tape drive's web interface.  (But my only goal was to get a tape out the mailslot though.)  So here it is attached in case it will help anybody else.  Just change a few of the variables like the IP address to match your setup.
