If you are using the Label Format attribute to assign volume, bacula
normally appends the media ID. However, if you use variable expansion to
generate the name, it doesn't - and I don't see a way to use variable
expansion to add it again. I don't see it among the documented
variables; is there an undocumented variable that would do it?

Also, the documentation at
http://www.bacula.org/en/dev-manual/Variable_Expansion.html says that
variable expansion is deprecated and replaced with python scripting (not
yet documented). Since it has been a while, is there any documentation
available for that by now?

Or better yet, any chance to get variable expansion un-deprecated for
bacula 3.0? It seems like such a simple, useful feature.

And a suggestion for the documentation: add a cautionary note:

Usually, it is not a good idea to use job-related variables to generate
volume labels. This is because volumes get recycled, and may in the
future contain data from jobs entirely unrelated to the volume label.
