Thanks for the feedback John. The frequency of this problem occurring in my setup is much higher than what you experience. It has happened 2 more times in the past week since I wrote the previous post. Information from the storage daemon debug trace file has been inconclusive other than it is clear the SD is requesting a tape it should not. I am betting I will have a better trace over the weekend as there will be a lot of tape management activity being done since I'll be running two sets of full backups. I might have something I can actually use to submit a bug come next week.

I have seen this happen in the past with my 2 drive autochanger with
several versions of bacula. But it is very rare for me (like 1
occurrence per 3 months of daily use or > 2000 jobs). I am not sure if
it has happened with 2.4.2 yet.
